I literally can't contain my excitement. But I am also scared because my current car is stuck at the dealership and my friends aren't answering to take me to pick it up and blaaghasfkerhh
2014 Nissan Versa Note 1.6 S manual (5-speed).
I think I got a good deal, thanks to Nissan's first time buyer program.
Yes, I know, Versas are suck. They are awful. They will draw life from you.
I love it.
Just need to come up with a name.

Naaaa your versa is cool. I drove one of those awhile ago and i must say it's an excellent economical car. And you got manučl transmission so another point on your jalopy card. Enjoy it in good health.

I have a soft spot for Nissans (all Mexicans do), but even without it I would still get this over a Fiesta or Fit. I don't know why since I read that these are garbage, but I really like them... It's unexplainable, car love is. Nice choice though; white is better than black

in the immortal words of James may "I have a name for it - the ruddy awful" Or if that doesn't work, how about "Desperate shag in a skip"?
But my views of the versa are based on a 2006 model so I pray they improved it since then. If you painted the top and bottom grills gloss black and made the bottom lip a nice silver, it would have a very handsome effect on the car. But that's just me. Just take care of it and it will be a dignified form of transportation for decades to come. That's the inherent beauty of crappy Japanese cars - they last forever. Keep the paint waxed and 200k should be a breeze.

all of the newer company cars where I work are Versas. With CVTs, even. And they're Sedans. But they're super-cheap to run and maintain, get between 35-40 mpg depending on who is driving, and whenever I take one to UPS, I kind of pretend that it's the Reasonably Priced Car.
Also for what they are, they're pretty big inside.

They are very big inside. Feels as spacious as my Panther if I'm honest. Drove the CVT, didn't like it, and this manual was cheaper anyway.

I owned a 2012 after reading they were garbage. I fell in inexplicable love and sold it after 4 months for no good reason other than it was in an accident with a previous owner. Now I've got one that I know the history of from day one.

Keeping it. I'll never sell my Mercury, it's going to be a time capsule for when I have kids in the future, and I'll use it on long roadtrips.

They'll come flying off reeeeallll quick though. As soon as you fling it around a little bit, you'll be down a couple. I suggest getting some of them plastic fuckers zip ties and putting a couple on each hubcap connecting the steelie with the hubcap.
Nice purchase though, at least you didn't get a Mirage :)

I drove both, the CVT makes the car significantly worse. Also, the Note seems to have somewhat bigger quality control over the sedan, I owned a 2012 sedan (also manual) so I'm basically a Versa whore.

Also, hatchback is superior to sedan in a vehicle that small. The Versa is narrow and tall so it'll feel as spacious as the Panther top to bottom but if you're as big as me you'll get a bit cramped for long drives. It is pretty narrow, but it also slices through the air quite efficiently to ensure excellent fuel mileage.

I have nerve damage in my back and the curvature of the seats in base model Versas suits me, even though the upper trims' "nicer cloth" doesn't. I think the Note is just a much better use of space, it definitely has better head and legroom in the rear.
I had a sedan a while ago and it really didn't take crosswinds on the highway well, so I'm hoping my new Note does better because it's shorter.

Congrats! And an excellent, practical choice of vehicle as well. I was also impressed how huge these things feel inside. They're cute and smooth. Good choice on the stick shift as well. We must keep buying more stick shifts before they take them all away from us Americans!

Congrats on the new ride man! I had a Versa hatch loaner while my old '10 Sentra SR was in the shop and it was a pretty fun little car, pretty close to my Sentra. I enjoyed it enough that I suggested it to my MIL and she ended up going out and buying one.
And to those mentioning the space, it really is bigger on the inside than you'd think. My 6'4" FIL and 6'3" BIL fit just comfortably in the car when riding with my MIL, and trust me, my BIL hates getting crammed into the backseat of a car. But in the Versa, he had no problems whatsoever.
On a completely random note, I'd love to see a Spec Versa hatch racing series or something, lol. For some reason, I could really see NISMO making that a solid little spec racer with some nice brakes, springs, intake, exhaust, etc. Plus, who doesn't love a gutted 5-door with roll cage?

You're absolutely right. The amount of legroom in the backseat is ridiculous, for a car that's only a few inches larger than a Fiesta hatchback it feels ginormous on the inside.
That sounds like a great idea. I'd love to, you know, 'test' some 'prototype' NISMO performance upgrades before the racing season begins, y'know...

Indeed indeed, lol! Back in my Sentra days, I swear I saw some photos (buried in some Nissan forum) of a Versa SE-R / NISMO prototype I'm assuming they never quite got it right; or that they just scrapped the idea since the new Versa was coming down the pipeline. Oh well.

Yeah, I enjoy hypermiling to a point, I don't go so far as to impede the flow of traffic or endanger myself as some do, but I manage to constantly get nearly 30 mpg out of my Panther without cruising on the highway for the entire tank.

The Micra isn't sold in the U.S. However, in Canada, they are sold along side eachother, but with a larger price gap. The Micra's base MSRP is $9998 and its a foot shorter and has less standard equipment; the Note's Canadian MSRP is just under $15k.

I wouldn't put it past some of the hypermilers I've met, considering that they often subscribe to some very dangerous tactics.

Congrats. I like the note. I don't like the sedan though. I think with manual it's a great alternative to a fit. Good choice. I would like to hear your thoughts about through out your ownership experince.

Yeah but as soon as you add an auto to the Micra (not that I personally would but other buyers might) the price is within $2K difference.
